Why Donate Blood?

 

Component Seperation

After the blood is collected from the donor and it has passed through the Infectious Marker System, it is either issued as a Whole Blood to the patient or divided into component. If one unit of Whole Blood is divided into component, it increases the stock of respective component and decreases the stock of Whole Blood by one unit.

Component types are as follows:

  • Red Blood Cell Concentrate

  • Plasma

  • Fresh Frozen Plasma

  • Platelet Concentrate

  • Cryoprecipitate
